Day 3 & 4, October

Jesus Is Our Standard

His intention was... that (we might arrive) at really mature manhood (the completeness of personality which is nothing less than the standard height of Christ's own perfection), the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Christ and the completeness found in Him. Ephesians 4:12-13

One time I was comparing myself to the way I used to be, and I thought, I am not doing too badly.

Then God said to me, "But Who is your standard? How are you doing compared to Me?"

I said, "Lord, I have a long way to go!"

Refuse to live beneath the standard that Jesus has set for you. Keep your eyes on Him and tell Him, "Many... are the wonderful works which You have done... no one can compare with You" (Psalm 40:5)

Receive His Grace

For we are God's (own) handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, (born anew) that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us (taking paths which He prepared ahead of time), that we should walk in them (living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live). Ephesians 2:10

The Bible doesn't say that you have to have self-control in order to go to heaven. You are free to be out of control if you want to; it is entirely up to you. The Word does say that you have to believe that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior
Romans 10:9-10 if you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved. For it is by our faith that we are put right with God; it is by our confession we are saved.

But if you want to live the good life that God has prearranged and laid out for you before the foundation of the world, you will need to discipline yourself to do whatever His Word says to do or whatever the Holy Spirit speaks to your heart to do. God offers you the grace to live a holy life that will reap many blessings in the days to come.

**Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path**
