Constructing your argument

#1 Claim a promise
Daniel 9:1- In the first year of Darius son of Xerxes (a Mede by descent), who was made ruler over the Babylonian kingdom—
appeal to God's promises

Jeremiah 29:10-11: 10 This is what the Lord says: “When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place. 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

*Claim promises God has made
*Revelation- said it is going to happen- focus on our prayers
*God gives us a cheque- we cash our cheque
*God gives us a promise- pray into the promise (to deliver)

#2 Appeals to God's mercy
Daniel 9:4-6, 18:
I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed:
“Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws. We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes and our ancestors, and to all the people of the land.

18 Give ear, our God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy

*"We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.

#3 Appeal to God's Record
*We want all the praise before we even get to ourselves
*We might back away because we don't want to prove ourselves
*He has prove himself time and time again

Daniel 9:15-16:
15 “Now, Lord our God, who brought your people out of Egypt with a mighty hand and who made for yourself a name that endures to this day, we have sinned, we have done wrong. 16 Lord, in keeping with all your righteous acts, turn away your anger and your wrath from Jerusalem, your city, your holy hill. Our sins and the iniquities of our ancestors have made Jerusalem and your people an object of scorn to all those around us.

#4 Appeal to God's reputation
*God himself cares about his own reputation, how is he being seen by others
Daniel 9:17-19:
17 “Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, Lord, look with favor on your desolate sanctuary. 18 Give ear, our God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. 19 Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.”

*If you will receive when you ask, could you seek him First in your finance
*Desperately need God to breakthrough
*Not only we can appeal to his promises, mercy, record and reputation but that we can
appeal his son- JESUS CHRIST!

Hebrews 4:16: 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

*Approach the throne of grace with confidence
*We have one who speaks up and present out case for God

**Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path**
