Hope Brisbane Youth Service!
*God is more interested in changing our heart and lives
*The Bible is relevant for us today
*The message is about hope and what he wants to do in our lives
*Romans 1:28-31: Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless.
*Not only by the grace of God but truth
*The truth that were living will change your life
*We are different people today by the grace of God
*We face temptation that pulls us away
*God has something with us as well
*2 Timothy 3:6-9: They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. Just as James and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth- men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.
*There are two things we need to avoid =
1. Have a depraved minds = morally corupt
2. Have a countefeit faith= false belief
*If you face the truth, you can be a changed person
*Change can begin, when you're honest with yourself
*The word of God is like a mirror (or the most accurate)- you see a lot of flaws when we look at the mirror
*We would continue to watch our hearts if we constantly listen to his word
*God brings light to see in a different area
*The thing that will take us somewhere is to COMPROMISE
*So compromise to MORALITY
*Compromise to BIBLICAL TRUTH
*Exodus 7:10-12: So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake. Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts. Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron's staff swallowed up their staffs.
*If our times, there might be Christians but not really Christians
COMPROMISE
- to settle for second best
- to lower sides of God's will
- to go against Godly convictions and biblical truth
*He will say something in your heart if you read the Bible frequently
*The challenge of the church is to discern what is God's best for us
*Really seek God for his will
*If you are sincere, he will lead you for his very best
*Another fact that would lead us to compromise is fear
*When you face that fear, got to bring to God to overcome it
*Genesis 3:1-4: Now the sepent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.'"
"You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman.
*The Devil will come in grey and blurry image instead of black and white
*Matthew 7:15: "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
*Matthew 4- Jesus fasted, its not easy
*Nothing wrong with turning stone into bread but we should not gratify our flesh but worshiping God
*Mistrust if Jesus disobeyed God
*God will not give us things too hard to bear
*We have to go through the hard times to be stronger
*Just hold on with the truth
*Avoiding compromise
1. Continue to give first priority to maturing in relationship with God
2. Keep the big picture in mind
-take a few steps back
-who and what would you become
3. Seek advice from trustworthy and Godly counsels
*Proverbs 15:22: Plans fall for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they suceed.
*Proverbs 11:14: For lack of guidance nation falls, but many advisers make victory sure. (The message)
4. Guard our hearts, keep the right conscience and obey the voice of the Holy Spirit
*The one who lives in me is better than my problems
*Jeremiah 17:9: The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
*Proverbs 11:23: The desire of the righteous ends only in good, but the hope of the wicked only in wrath.
5. Choose to surrender and trust God for his will and wisdom for our lives
*Isaiah 55:8-9: "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
*Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; and in your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
*If your having any compromised problems
